These policies apply to Adult Group Tours. They do not apply to Field Trips and Youth Group Tours. Tour policies and procedures are subject to change at any time.
Guided tours last approximately one hour and are available for groups ranging in size from 10 to 120. Tours offer an overview of the world’s music, focusing on certain cultures in each geographical region of the globe.
A group is 10 or more guests who visit MIM as friends, alumni, clubs, reunions, special events, spouse programs, conference delegates, seniors, people with disabilities, college and technical school students, employees for team building, and family gatherings.
Guided tours are free with the cost of admission. Regular admission is $20 for adult, $15 for teens (ages 13–19), and $10 for children (ages 4–12); children 3 and under are free.
Tours are available year-round, seven days a week. Our team is delighted to tailor the time of the tour to your needs.
To book a tour for your group, please fill out the Adult Group Tour Request Form. The coordinator will follow up with you to finalize a date and time immediately and will again contact you shortly before your tour date for confirmation.
A nonrefundable deposit of $40 is due within ten days of confirming the reservation. If this deposit is not received, the reservation may be canceled. The balance is due in one payment on the day of the tour. We ask that all monies for your admission are collected prior to your arrival to expedite the check-in process. MIM accepts all major credit cards, checks, and cash.
Groups enter through the museum’s main entrance and are greeted by one or more tour guides. If your group is large, it may be broken into smaller subgroups. The tour leader checks in at Guest Service. Tour bus parking is available on the north side of the museum. MIM meets all ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) requirements for accessibility. Please notify us at least two weeks before your tour for any special needs requests.
Included with admission, all guests touring the museum are issued a guidePORT and headset, which allow them to experience the audio and video recordings that accompany nearly every exhibit.
Groups can easily take self-guided tours at MIM. Self-guided tours are entirely self-directed and last approximately ninety minutes, including time in the Experience Gallery. Self-guided groups are strongly recommended to make advanced reservations.

Absolutely! The MIM Music Theater frequently hosts a variety of performances. Click here to view a full schedule of upcoming concerts. Concert tickets are sold separately from admission.
If you must cancel a tour, please e-mail adulttours@MIM.org or call 480.478.6031. All changes or cancellations must be made two weeks or more before the tour date.
The $40 deposit is nonrefundable but can be applied toward another visit. Please submit another request if you are interested in rescheduling your visit. MIM reserves the right to cancel or reschedule your group at any time.
Be aware that large bags or backpacks are not allowed in the building. It is best to leave them in your vehicle, or else they will need to be checked at Security at the front desk. Also, no food/drink or water bottles are allowed in the galleries. Pictures may be taken but without flash, and we ask that cell phones be set on vibrate so as not to disturb the other guests.
There is ample parking and it is free. MIM is motor-coach friendly, with convenient drop-off and pickup points in front of the museum.
